Tidal Dreams

Open Air Art Gallery, Northampton,MA. 2009

Tidal Dreams was created from a dance of two distinctly different images in my mind: tidal lines in the sand, and wet, elliptical leaves curling over each other in the autumn wind. Tidal pools always induce a dream state in which I find my attentions being pulled from the expansive ocean beyond, downward and inward to the undulating patterns and the myriad life forms that exist in these transitory temporal states. I merged this image with that of wet leaves plastered to the ground as the pre-winter wind lifted their tips and rolled them into waves on the pavement. Both visions share the beauty of being crafted by the power of wind and water.
